Bathroom & Shower Tile
The details that matter in a shower are the ones you can't see after it's done.
Wet Areas Require More
A bathroom tile job is not the same as a floor tile job. Water exposure changes everything. The waterproofing layer, the backer board, the mortar selection, the grout type, the caulk placement at changes of plane — all of these decisions matter in a way they don't on a dry floor.
We use sheet membrane or liquid-applied waterproofing systems (Schluter Kerdi and RedGard are both in our toolkit) depending on the substrate and the scope. The membrane goes behind the tile, not over it. That distinction is why showers we tile don't leak into the subfloor below.
Niche installation is one of the details we take seriously. A niche needs to be waterproofed independently, sloped slightly toward the opening so water drains out, and tiled with grout lines that align with the surrounding wall. A poorly done niche is one of the most common places for moisture to get behind the tile over time.
Our Shower Installation Process
Demo and Substrate Inspection
We remove existing tile and inspect the backer board underneath. Any sections that have absorbed moisture or show delamination get replaced before anything else happens.
Waterproofing
We apply a continuous waterproof membrane to the shower pan, walls, and niche. The membrane is tested before tile goes up. Corners and changes of plane get fabric-reinforced seam tape embedded in the membrane.
Layout and Setting
We plan the layout so tile courses are balanced and cuts fall in less visible locations. Large-format tiles get back-buttered to ensure full mortar coverage (minimum 95% contact in wet areas).
Grouting and Caulking
Grout joints get filled with the correct grout type for the joint width. Changes of plane (floor-to-wall, wall corners) get caulked, not grouted, to allow for movement without cracking.
Cure and Seal
We allow proper cure time before water contact and apply initial grout sealer before we leave the job. We give you timing guidance on when the shower is ready for use.

Bathroom Tile in These Areas
We handle bathroom and shower tile installation throughout Vinings, Cumberland, and Smyrna. Most of our bathroom jobs are in occupied homes, and we plan the schedule to minimize disruption to your household.
