What This Service Covers
Residential tile installation covers a wide range of spaces: kitchen floors, bathroom floors and walls, entryways, mudrooms, laundry rooms, and exterior patios. Each of these spaces has different demands, and we approach them accordingly.
Kitchen floors see heavy traffic and need a tile rated for that use. Entryways need a solid bond because foot traffic at the door concentrates stress at the threshold. Laundry rooms often have moisture issues that require a moisture barrier before the backer board goes down. We assess each space individually rather than treating every floor the same.
One thing we pay close attention to on residential jobs is the existing subfloor condition. In many Atlanta-area homes, especially those built before 1990, the subfloor has some flex or unevenness that needs to be addressed before tile can go down without cracking. We use a self-leveling underlayment or mortar float to bring the surface into spec before setting a single tile.
What's Included
We check flatness, deflection, and moisture before any material is ordered or installed.
We install cement board or Schluter Ditra on wood subfloors to prevent tile cracking from movement.
We snap chalk lines, plan the layout to minimize awkward cuts at visible edges, and dry-fit before committing to mortar.
We use the correct mortar type for the tile material (modified, large-format, or epoxy as needed) and back-butter large tiles for full coverage.
Grout type and color are selected for the joint width and surface. We apply initial sealer on cement-based grout before the job is considered done.
We install metal or stone transition strips where tile meets wood, carpet, or other flooring materials so the edge is clean and protected.
